Roughly 90% of all the wine that comes from Mexico today is produced in Valle de Guadalupe. This part of Baja California Mexico is one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the Americas. A large majority of the wineries in Valle de Guadalupe rarely export their wines. Some popular varietals you will find include Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Colombard, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, and of course a regional favorite, Nebbiolo.
In the last decade or so the amount of wineries in Valle de Guadalupe has exploded, leading to incredible growth and its designation as an up-and-coming region in the global wine scene. Valle de Guadalupe is located just northeast of Ensenada and now contains over 100 wineries–artisan and commercial, small and large. Many of the amazing wineries are open year round; however summertime is when Valle really comes to life.
